SESSION

Details

During that photo session, we'll take tender care to preserve these precious first moments with your newborn baby. Comfortably staged in your home, we'll capture that tender, naked newborn skin, the itty bitty toes and fingers, and the glow new parents share as they adore their new baby. It's meant to be an intimate time together as we ensure you never forget how perfectly tiny and delicate your baby (or babies!) was in their first few days.

Nothing in this life is sweeter than a brand new baby. Photos can't save the sweet scent of their little bald heads, but they can preserve how you felt as you breathed their intoxicating newness. Since newborns are best photographed between days 14-21 of life, it's strongly advisable to reserve your session with your due date. This is especially a must to get those cute little curled-up, sleeping newborn pictures.

  • I was looking for someone to photograph my newborn baby girl and was referred to Carrie by a friend. Carrie was so patient with myself & my daughter for the photo shoot.

All of the pictures turned out beautiful and I will treasure them forever.

  • While I was pregnant with our first child I scoured the Internet for newborn photographers. I came across Carrie D’s site and just knew that she was the right fit for us. Our correspondence was easy & Carrie was very open to suggestions & ideas. During our session, Carrie was a pure professional while maintaining a down-to-earth and friendly feel.

She handled our baby girl with care and ease.

  • We cannot say enough great things about Carrie and her photography which is the artwork all over our house now. Carrie photographed our family when our daughter turned one and my husband and I decided to

    make it an annual tradition.

SESSION

FAQs

Q: I don’t know exactly when my baby will arrive so how do we plan our session?
A: The way we plan and schedule newborn sessions is simple…we wait for your baby to make his/her arrival! All that is needed to reserve your session is a $75 deposit and for you to add me to your ‘baby is here!’ email or text list. Once I hear from you that your little one was born, I will contact you to schedule your session within the first 10 days of your baby’s life.

Q: We just came home with our little one and are overwhelmed with everything – do we have to do the session so soon after they are born?
A: In a short answer, yes. In order to get those cute, sleepy, curled-up baby poses you see and love we need to complete the session within the first 2 weeks of life. I know how things seem crazy when you bring home a brand new family member…I did it three wild and wonderful times! If anything, I hope that your newborn session with Carrie D Photography will bring some calm and relaxation to those hectic first days. I know it seems like your baby is fussy a lot and you have no idea how they will ever sleep through photos…but they will. I have many years of practice and some tricks up my sleeve, which will help them sleep…like a baby!

Q: What do I have to supply for the newborn session?
A: A super cute baby! I bring everything else we need. Blankets, hats, headbands, wraps, and my own portable studio travels with me to your home, so you can feel comfortable in your own space with you newest arrival.

Q: We have some special/sentimental items we would like to use in our session. Is this possible?
A: Of course!! I will do my best to work in anything that is important to you and your family.

Q: Our furry four-legged kids were our first babies, can they be in a few photos?
A: I LOVE animals!! I have two dogs of my own and love to photograph your fur babies with your family since they are such a big part of it.

Q: How long does a newborn session typically take?
A: The average newborn session takes approximately two hours. I’m very accommodating of feedings, changings, and snuggles. Your newborn session will be relaxed as I gently work with your new little one to get the perfect photos.

Q: What should I do to prepare for the session?
A: A fed baby is a happy baby. All I ask is that you feed your newborn as soon before the start of your session time as possible. Also, since the session will take place in your home, I will need some room to set up a little studio area. I don’t need much space, and don’t worry about finding me space, I can easily find the best area to work once I arrive at your home.

Q: Will you take some family photos, too?
A: Yes of course! I always try to end each session with some family photos. I know not everyone feels like they are ready to have their photo taken right after having a baby…I’ve been there. However, these photos of you and your new baby will be cherished forever. One day your son or daughter will ask about the day they were born and you will be able to pull out these family photos to show them, and the love you felt that day will come rushing back. Trust me, it is worth it.

Q: Can I use these photos for announcements, our baby book, and to share with family and friends?
A: Yes! You will receive approximately 25-30 high-resolution digital photos from your session. These photos will be posted in an online gallery to share with family and friends. Along with the gallery you will receive a download password. You will then be able to download the photos to your computer to keep forever! A full print release is provided with these photos as well, so you can print to your heart’s content!
